Hummus House, a restaurant specializing in Middle Eastern fare, opened its doors Jan. 6 at 1502 W. Chew St. in Allentown.

The business, which fills the space left vacant by West Park Gourmet Deli, serves breakfast items such as ham or bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches; and gourmet hero sandwiches such as “Al’s Mortadella Supreme” (mortadella with pistachio, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, lettuce, oregano, extra virgin olive oil and a balsamic glaze).

Among the eatery’s many Middle Eastern selections, which have been in owner Albert Hechme’s family for generations, are artichoke salad, baba ghanouj, kibbee, spinach pies and sun-dried tomato hummus.

Open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, the restaurant offers both takeout and delivery. Indoor seating is available for 10 patrons with additional outside seating to arrive in the spring. Info: 610-434-8800 or thehummushouse.com.
